The Belgian Climate Centre invites you to the very first Belgian Science for Climate Action Conference on the topic of Climate Extremes, Causes and Consequences.
Climate extremes, such as severe drought, heat waves and periods of heavy rainfall, can have profound consequences for ecological systems and for human welfare. Global climate change is expected to increase both the frequency and the intensity of climate extremes and there is an urgent need to understand their ecological consequences.
Given the rising occurrence and severity of extreme weather events in Belgium, there's a growing need for the right expertise, resources, and organizational structures to evaluate forthcoming hazards. Actionable climate science is increasingly in demand by communities, governments and the private sector. This involves strategic planning for adaptation and the establishment of robust climate risk management systems.
